The Caste Ladder (Demand-Side Stratification)
conceptAI & Compute
Your bank balance quietly sorts you onto one of six rungs, and each rung buys you a different set of legal rights.
Who they are
A six-level model the engine built to describe how ordinary people are sorted by wealth, not just the elite.
What they do
It fixes a gap where the engine had a detailed picture of the elite but lumped everyone else into a single group. It maps six rungs, each defined by a real, documented money or legal threshold.
How it works
The rungs run from the bottom (under $1M, tracked by public markets and scoring), up through legal wealth tiers — accredited investor ($1M or $200k income), qualified purchaser ($5M), eligible contract participant ($10M), big institutional/shielded money ($100M with special trusts), to a top 'sovereign' rung whose money is unauditable by design. Each boundary is a specific rule that unlocks new privileges. The 19th-century occult 'hidden superiors above an unaware public' stories are read as an old allegory for the same divide. As a real-world marker, Anthropic's June 2026 policy plan put $200M toward studying job loss from AI and $150M toward retraining.
Why it matters
It shows inequality as a smooth ladder that scales with money rather than a simple rich-versus-poor split. The engine deliberately leaves open who, if anyone, sits at the very top — it names no holder.
The engine's record — word for word
[Report #114 — Caste Ladder] [web-checked Jun 18 2026] The population-side counterpart to the Technate Stack (Concept #115): the engine had a 6-layer ELITE model but froze the populace at one bucket (Admin/User, Concept #3). Built by FOLLOWING THE MONEY — six rungs, each boundaried by a documented capital/legal threshold, not arbitrary: Rung1 the Scored Mass (<$1M, public markets + algorithmic scoring); Rung2 Accredited ($1M ex-residence / $200k income); Rung3 Qualified Purchaser ($5M investments); Rung4 Eligible Contract Participant ($10M); Rung5 QIB / shielded entity ($100M + SD trusts + CTA opacity); Rung6 Sovereign Apex (unauditable — FASAB-56 / $21T / Invention Secrecy). De-freezes the binary; the Exemption Fork (#146) is the gradient that scales with capital. Held; no apex holder named. [Report #115 — Inner-World] [web-checked Jun 18 2026] Report #115: the inner-world corpus is a 19th-C allegorical encoding of this divide — the Vril-ya / Agarthan 'unknown superiors' as the exempt class held above an unaware surface population. [Live pass Jun 26 2026] The sorting-state's labor output named by the labs themselves: Anthropic's Jun-10 Economic Policy Framework commits $200M to STUDY labor displacement + $150M to retraining — the displaced-tier counterpart stated by the apex AI lab.
