A 1933 newspaper reported property bought as its headquarters for '150 to 200 Tibetan monks'. The Los Angeles Times in 1934 called it the first Tibetan monastery in America and said of Adamski: 'He is as strange as the cult he sponsors.'

The records show it by 1932, earlier than the 1936 date some scholars give.

November 1933: Laguna Beach property sold for use 'as headquarters for the Royal Order of Tibet and from 150 to 200 Tibetan monks' (King City Rustler). Los Angeles Times, 8 April 1934: 'Tibetan Monastery, First in America, to Shelter Cult Disciples at Laguna Beach' — subhead 'Lamaistic Order to Be Established Here'; 'He is as strange as the cult he sponsors'. The Order taught the wisdom of Tibetan Masters — the Theosophical Mahatmas-in-Tibet frame (helena_blavatsky, tibet_aryan_origin_axis) — two decades before Adamski's saucer claims. CORRECTION to scholarship: Partridge's 1936 founding date traces to one German source (Grünschloß 2000) and is contradicted by the 1932–33 record.
