Esalen and the Eugenics Establishment — Shared People and Ideas, No Institution: Lineage or Coincidence?

The open question: (A) intellectual lineage — eugenic evolutionism carried into Esalen as 'human potential' by people and texts (Poller 2019 argues this for Murphy); (B) shared milieu — the same educated Anglo-American circle produced both, without transmission; (C) coincidence plus pattern-matching. Esalen's own founders' texts teach latent potential, not breeding (Aldous: 'wholly potential and latent in man'). FALSIFICATION: an Esalen program, grant or officer documented inside a eugenics or population body (moves toward A); or documentary evidence that the shared people held the two domains explicitly apart (moves toward B/C).
