Pioneer Fund (1937)
organization
A 1937 fund run by a former Nazi-era eugenics official quietly bankrolled race science for decades.
Who they are
The Pioneer Fund, a US foundation set up in 1937 by textile-machinery heir Wickliffe Draper.
What they do
It's the mid-century American money vehicle that carried eugenics forward into modern race-and-intelligence research.
How it works
Its founder privately wanted to prove Black inferiority, and its first president was Harry Laughlin, superintendent of the Cold Spring Harbor eugenics office - a direct handoff from that apparatus into a private funder. Before WWII it backed immigration restriction and segregation efforts; afterward it bankrolled race-and-intelligence researchers like Shockley, Jensen, and Rushton. It's designated a hate group by the SPLC.
Why it matters
The engine treats it as the carrier linking old eugenics to modern private-fortune science funding - and holds the top open, reading it as a recurring structure rather than a single hidden cabal.
The engine's record — word for word
US foundation est. 1937 by textile-machinery heir Wickliffe Draper to 'advance the scientific study of heredity and human differences' (Draper privately stated he wished to prove Black inferiority). FIRST PRESIDENT = Harry Laughlin, the ERO superintendent — the direct rotation of the Cold Spring Harbor eugenics apparatus into a privatized funding vehicle. Pre-war: immigration restriction, segregation (Mississippi Sovereignty Commission, Citizens' Councils, anti-Brown litigation), Black-repatriation literature. Post-war: bankrolled race-and-intelligence research (William Shockley, Arthur Jensen, J. Philippe Rushton, Roger Pearson; Mankind Quarterly). SPLC-designated. The mid-century American carrier between the ERO/Nazi eugenics spine and 21st-century private-fortune science capture; mask-rotation #144, apex held (structural-recurrence b, no single cabal).
