Karl Harrer (1890-1926) — the Thule Society's man at the DAP's founding

player
The occult club's connection to the Nazi Party's founding ran through one commissioned man — a journalist who helped chair the party for a year and was gone by 1920.
Who they are

Karl Harrer, a Munich journalist, sent by the Thule Society to carry nationalist politics to workers.

What they do

Co-founded the German Workers' Party and held its top-level chairmanship post from 5 January 1919 to 24 February 1920 — leaving just as it became the NSDAP. (His own record titles him Reich Chairman; the party's and Drexler's records call him deputy chairman under Drexler — this site carries both.) He died in 1926.

How it works

His page records the commission from the Thule Society in so many words; that is the documented link between the club and the party.

Why it matters

When people say 'the occultists founded the Nazi Party,' the founding-era commission is one man: Harrer, organizationally, for thirteen months. Other early figures had Thule ties of their own — Drexler's recorded membership, Hess, Eckart — and their pages carry them. The site holds both the link and its limits.

The engine's record — word for word
[Report #201 — person layer] Journalist; 'commissioned by the Thule Society' to carry völkisch politics to Munich workers after the war. Co-founded the DAP with Drexler and held its chairmanship-level post from 5 January 1919 to 24 February 1920 (his page's title is Reich Chairman of the DAP; the DAP and Drexler pages carry him as deputy chairman under Drexler — both carried), leaving as the party renamed itself NSDAP. Died 5 September 1926. ENGINE READING: this is the person the thule_society caveat points at — the documented Thule→DAP link is ORGANIZATIONAL, and Harrer is that organization-level link; his early exit is part of why historians resist the deeper ideological-capture reading. Held; name no holder.
