The Nazi secret-weapons complex under SS officer Hans Kammler[1][2].
What they do
In the engine this is the plumbing half of the Nazi origin: compartmentalised, black-budget, built on expendable labour, and the template America imported.
How it works
Its physical form was underground: Mittelwerk in the Harz mountains producing V-2s, where the overwhelming majority of labourers were not German and around twenty thousand died, and Der Riese in the Owl Mountains[1].
Why it matters
It matters because the production record stands on its own evidence and does not need any saucer story. Those stories are now dated separately: the flying disc to a magazine article of 29 March 1950[4], the stealth wing to the designer's own article of May 1950[5], and the Bell to one author in 2000. None of the three rests on a wartime German document.
