On 10 May 2025 Calley Means phoned him, pushed him to start doing business with Truemed, said 'I am going to sue the shit out of you', and threatened to report his doctors to the head of the NIH and to RFK Jr. Gillooly filed a complaint that day with four federal bodies, saying Means tried to 'extort my business into transacting with Truemed'. The recording came out in September. His own company profile says the thing that actually separates the two firms: unlike companies that grow on borrowed money or venture capital, his has been kept profitable from day one - while Truemed runs on $34 million of venture money.
Why it matters
Three accounts of his career don't line up. The press release announcing him says two decades in healthcare; his own profile describes plastics marketing, a chemical engineering degree, and a diamond-dust supply-chain security firm backed by Lockheed Martin and Airbus. No federal body has reported any outcome on his complaint.

THREE ACCOUNTS OF HIS BACKGROUND DO NOT RECONCILE: the appointment release says he 'brings more than two decades of leadership experience in healthcare operations, strategic growth, and digital transformation'; his own TWC biography says he has guided TWC since its 'inception in summer 2022' and describes a career with no healthcare in it — business degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, marketing roles domestic and abroad at SABIC (one of the world's largest plastics manufacturers), a master's in chemical engineering at Columbia, then VP of Operations at DUST Identity, an MIT-founded Newton, Massachusetts firm using engineered diamond dust to create 'unclonable physical identities' for supply chains, funded by Kleiner Perkins, Airbus, Lockheed Martin and American Express. Reports TWC 'crossing over $50m in annual sales and serving over 25,000 customers per month', with a 50-state telehealth platform that 'supports the fulfillment of over 150,000 prescriptions per month'. THE STRUCTURAL CONTRAST WITH TRUEMED IS IN HIS OWN BIO: 'Unlike "tech" companies that grow through borrowing or venture capital, Peter's focus since Day 1 has been keeping the company profitable' — against Truemed's $34M a16z-led Series A. Bootstrapped-profitable versus venture-backed is the axis of the rivalry, not ideology. States TWC 'seeks to be a complete parallel health and wellness option outside of the mainstream'; Coulson's own blurb describes building 'companies driving the parallel economy'. On 10 May 2025 he took the call from Calley Means, then a serving HHS Special Government Employee, and filed a federal ethics complaint the same day with the Office of Special Counsel, HHS Office of Civil Rights, HHS Inspector General and the FTC, alleging Means sought to 'extort my business into transacting with Truemed'. TWC's statement page carries his account: 'I was appalled and horrified by the behavior of Calley Means, a man who I have never met before... try to blackmail, extort and harass me for his own personal gain.' The recording was published 17 September 2025. NO OUTCOME FROM ANY OF THE FOUR BODIES HAS BEEN REPORTED; the only subsequent federal action located is the 31 October 2025 Auchincloss–Schiff letter (see truemed).
