Anthropic's AI program is at the centre of the Pentagon fight, the Mythos model and the compute race.
Who they are

Claude, the AI program made by Anthropic.

What they do

In September 2026 Anthropic said Claude "autonomously discovered a novel enzyme system" in DNA. Hackers were caught stealing Claude subscribers' login tokens, and Claude went down for hours on September 3 along with ChatGPT and Grok.

How it works

It is sold to companies and governments. Norway's oil fund uses it to screen investments. Its most powerful version, Claude Mythos, was shared only with a group of partner firms.

Why it matters

The Pentagon's Hegseth demanded unrestricted military access to Claude and then banned Anthropic. A court later ruled the ban illegal. Musk's SpaceX now owns Cursor, one of Claude's biggest users.
