The Geophysics Verdict
Why the pole-flip is physically precluded (real science, carried as the report's verdict)
Earth is locked, not loose. It spins on its *maximum* moment-of-inertia axis — the lowest-energy state possible — so a spontaneous Dzhanibekov flip can't start. The tennis-racket theorem ECDO invokes only applies to torque-free bodies in free space; Earth is bulged, gravitationally bound and coupled core-to-mantle.
The brakes are measured. Core-mantle viscous + electromagnetic coupling caps the relative core angular-momentum change at under 0.001%. Every real cousin of 'pole shift' is slow or non-mechanical: true polar wander ~1°/Myr; the Laschamp magnetic excursion was purely electromagnetic over ~1,800 years with zero physical pole movement.
The real kernels exist but don't add up to ECDO: inner-core super-rotation and deep-ocean Argo warming are documented — proponents over-extend them into a whole-crust flip the mechanics forbid. [Report #103 (ECDO)]
