Unheard Voice (2022) — the Western Covert Op, Documented

eventAI & Compute · Nations & Geopolitics · Media & Managed Opposition
Proof the West runs the same troll farms — and that they barely work.
Who they are

Graphika and the Stanford Internet Observatory, in a 2022 report called Unheard Voice.

What they do

They exposed a pro-Western fake-account network: 146 accounts, nearly 300,000 tweets over ten years, using AI-generated faces. It flopped — the average tweet got half a like.

How it works

Same forensic method used to catch Russian and Chinese operations, applied to a US-aligned one.

Why it matters

Two lessons: everybody does this, and running an operation is not the same as changing anyone's mind.

The engine's record — word for word
**In plain terms:** the receipt that the West runs the same playbook — and that it mostly did not work. On 24 Aug 2022 Graphika and the Stanford Internet Observatory published Unheard Voice, analyzing a PRO-WESTERN covert influence operation (promoting US-aligned narratives across the Middle East and Central Asia, opposing Russia, China and Iran) from datasets Twitter and Meta removed for coordinated inauthentic behavior — 146 Twitter accounts generating 299,566 tweets (Mar 2012 to Feb 2022), using AI-generated (GAN) faces and sham outlets. REACH was negligible: the average tweet received 0.49 likes and 0.02 retweets, and only 19 percent of the covert assets had more than 1,000 followers[1]. Engine placement: (1) the SYMMETRY receipt — Western-aligned actors run the same scroll-native tactics documented for adversaries, exposed by the same forensic method; (2) empirical proof of inverse_scale_law — massive manufactured volume, near-zero organic reach; (3) the attribution brake — a documented operation is NOT a brainwashed population. Held; name no holder.
