The engine logs him as a developer the US government sanctioned as an individual, not just his software.
In August 2023 the US Treasury's OFAC sanctioned him personally, alongside extending sanctions to the Tornado Cash protocol itself; he is believed to live in Russia and is outside US and EU jurisdiction.
His case marks how far governments will go to punish the people who write privacy-preserving crypto code, even when they can't physically reach them.
