A 1952 electrogravitics research proposal by the Townsend Brown Foundation, based on an effect Thomas Townsend Brown spotted in the 1920s.

How it works
Navy physicist Willoughby Cady's September 1952 report concluded the thrust was just 'electric wind' (ionized air being pushed), far too weak to lift heavy craft — a conclusion modern experiments confirm; a fake program name the source invented ('Aetherwing,' actually a trading-card name) is kept out as a cover story.
Why it matters
The engine deliberately leaves it open — the real research existed, but whether it ever led to anything working is unresolved on the public record, so it names no conclusion either way.
