How it works
The region cycled from a first leftist wave (Chavez, Lula, Morales, 1998-2015) to a right-wing reversal (Bolsonaro, Macri, 2015-2020) to a second leftist wave and a libertarian backlash (Milei, 2023). Yet Brazil's soy to China, Chile's copper and lithium exports, and Colombia's coca all continued unchanged regardless of who was in power.

The engine's point is that the left-right drama is largely theater - the resource extraction continues no matter which side wins.
