The NSDAP vote, 1928-1933 - the arithmetic behind canon's single election figure
artifact
This site has carried one election number for this entire story — 2.6% — with no table behind it. Here is the table, with the sourced rows kept separate from the remembered ones.
Who they are
The German electorate across five national parliamentary elections, 1928 to 1933.
What they do
The Nazi share ran 2.6% in May 1928, 18.3% in September 1930, 37.3% in July 1932, 33.1% in November 1932 and 43.9% in March 1933. The full seat breakdown for March 1933 is now properly sourced from a 1953 academic article: of 647 seats, the Nazis held 288 and the Communists 81 — the two numbers the rest of this story leans on.
How it works
The raw vote counts, and every seat total except two, came back from an AI's memory and are left out. Its own table printed 'not provided' in the turnout column for all five elections while claiming in its summary that every percentage had been paired with its denominator. That is why this page separates what is documented from what was recalled.
Why it matters
Having the numbers lets you test a claim this site already makes. The 2.6% line calls the rise a 'phase transition' of the kind that happens when a committed minority reaches somewhere between 10% and 17% of a population. Lay that band against the actual run and no national election ever returned a Nazi share inside it — the party went from 2.6% straight to 18.3% in one step, skipping over the band between two counts. That does not make the theory wrong. It does mean the real finding here is the size of the jump, not a slow climb through a threshold.
The engine's record — word for word
[Report #202] **In plain terms:** the engine has carried one election number for this whole story - 2.6% - with no table behind it. This record is the table, with the rows that are sourced marked apart from the rows that are not.
WHAT CANON HELD BEFORE THIS RECORD: exactly one figure, ticker entry [434]: '2.6% - NSDAP vote share in 1928. By 1933: absolute power. BCS inflexible minority phase transition in 5 years. The sociophysics of totalitarian capture.' A whole-word search of all ten canon files on 2026-10-19 returned zero hits for 18.3, 37.3, 33.1 and 89.9, and one hit for 43.9 in an unrelated present-day record. One number, no denominator, no source.
THE SHARE SEQUENCE: May 1928, 2.6% - September 1930, 18.3% (107 seats) - July 1932, 37.3% - November 1932, 33.1% - March 1933, 43.9%.
DOCUMENT-GRADE FROM SCHNEIDER 1953, footnote 6, which gives the full distribution of all 647 mandates on the 5 March 1933 result: NSDAP 288, SPD 120, Kampffront Schwarz-Weiss-Rot 52, KPD 81, Zentrum 73, Bayerische Volkspartei 19, Deutsche Volkspartei 2, Christlich-Sozialer Volksdienst 4, Deutsche Staatspartei 5, Deutsche Bauernpartei 2, Wuerttembergischer Landbund 1. The 288 and the 81 are the two numbers the rest of this ripple leans on, and they are now sourced rather than remembered.
HELD OPEN, NOT MINTED: every raw vote count, and every seat total except September 1930 and March 1933. The research pass supplied them tagged [PRIOR] and its own table printed 'Not provided' in the electorate/turnout column for all five rows while its self-audit claimed every percentage had been paired with its denominator. Falter's demographic denominators, named as still open in Scorecard #280, remain open. The 1932 presidential rounds are not held.
THE TEST THIS RECORD MAKES POSSIBLE, AND WHICH CUTS AGAINST CANON'S OWN FRAMING. Ticker [434] calls this a 'BCS inflexible minority phase transition'. Concept #28 defines that band precisely: 'a committed minority of 10-17% can flip the behavior of a flexible majority... when adoption... reaches 10-17% (the Galam threshold), it becomes irreversible.' Laid against the share sequence above, no national Reichstag election in the run returned an NSDAP share inside 10-17%. The party went from 2.6% to 18.3% in a single step, crossing the band between observations. That does not refute Galam and is not offered as doing so; what it establishes is that the band was never a measured state at national scale, so the honest form of the finding is a statement about the JUMP, not about a transition through a threshold. Ticker [434] is annotated accordingly in this ripple rather than rewritten. Held; name no holder.
