He co-founded Tor Project Inc. in December 2006 alongside Dingledine and Syverson, in a line traced back to the US Naval Research Laboratory, and served as the lead cryptographer on the Tor protocol.
It marks that a tool marketed as citizen anonymity has roots in US government research, a recurring pattern the engine watches.
