Human Body Communication (HBC), a technical layer inside the international wireless standard IEEE 802.15.6.
What they do
It is a way to send data through a person's body instead of through the air, using the body itself as the signal channel.
How it works
A transmitter creates a weak electric field around the body at radio frequencies (roughly 5-50 MHz, with 16 MHz and 27 MHz set as official bands), and a receiver placed elsewhere on or in the body picks up the tiny changes, with the tissue acting as the transmission route.
Why it matters
It formally classifies human flesh as an approved pipe for moving digital information, turning the body into part of the network.
