How it works
Samuel Oppenheimer (died 1703) financed Habsburg war debt, and after his death the imperial treasury defaulted on about 8 million gulden owed to his estate; Joseph Suss Oppenheimer, appointed by a duke, was arrested days after that duke's sudden death in 1737 and hanged outside Stuttgart in 1738, showing the prince controlled both the hiring and the destroying.
Why it matters
It matters because the record documents only that the sovereign held the real power and names no hidden controller; the engine deliberately holds open, rather than asserting, any reading that casts the financier as the secret master, and warns not to confuse this line with the separate modern mining Oppenheimers.
