The Billionaire Ocean Fleets
mechanismMedia & Managed Opposition
A handful of billionaires now own deep-sea ships and submarines powerful enough to rival national navies.
Who they are
The private deep-ocean fleets owned by tech and finance billionaires, including Eric Schmidt, Ray and Mark Dalio, Paul Allen, and Jeff Bezos.
What they do
The engine notes these individuals now command deep-ocean mapping, access, and salvage capabilities that used to belong to states.
How it works
Schmidt's research vessel Falkor (too) carries an ROV that dives to 4,500 meters; the Dalios' OceanXplorer has submarines and a 6,000-meter ROV; Paul Allen's ships found the battleship Musashi (2015) and the USS Indianapolis (2017); and Bezos's team recovered Apollo 11 rocket engines from about 14,000 feet down. This deep-sea capacity is wrapped in the language of philanthropy, research, and media.
Why it matters
The engine flags that private actors are quietly building the logistics for deep-sea operations — but deliberately names no single coordinator, and warns not to merge Schmidt's separate roles into one; the top is left open.
The engine's record — word for word
[Report #130] Deep-ocean mapping/access/extraction capacity rivaling state navies, now in private hands (fact-checked): Schmidt Ocean Institute's Falkor (too) (Eric + Wendy Schmidt; global-class research vessel; ROV SuBastian to 4,500 m; deep landers); OceanX's OceanXplorer (Ray AND Mark Dalio, 2016; ex-Volstad Surveyor; Triton subs Neptune/Nadir to 1,000 m; 6,000-m ROV; media facilities consulted by James Cameron); Paul Allen's Octopus/R/V Petrel (the Musashi found via Octopus 2015; USS Indianapolis 2017 + USS Hornet 2019 via Petrel); Bezos Expeditions' 2013 recovery of Apollo 11 F-1 engines from ~14,000 ft (~8-ton dry weight, not 10). Wraps mapping/access in philanthropy/research/media (an Absurdity-Shield register), laying logistical groundwork for deep-sea operation. DISCIPLINE: Eric Schmidt already sits in canon as scsp_2021 (Mask-Rotation carrier; the 'shadow NSCAI' framing PARKED in a synthesis-candidate divergence) — his ocean vessel is a SEPARATE footprint; do not collapse to a coordinator. Apex held; name no holder.
