Nuclear fuel enriched to 5-20% U-235, required by most advanced nuclear reactor designs including the small modular reactors (SMRs) central to the Genesis Mission. Critical bottleneck: as of 2026, Russia (through TENEX/Rosatom) is the world's only commercial supplier of HALEU. The US has no domestic HALEU production capability at scale. Centrus Energy (LEU on NYSE) received a DOE contract to produce HALEU at Piketon, Ohio — the same site proposed for Project Stargate's 9.2 GW facility. The dependency on Russian nuclear fuel for American AI infrastructure is one of the engine's most acute supply chain vulnerabilities.
