A proposed (not established) mechanism for why researchers at the extreme edge of human knowledge — fusion, anti-gravity, deep anomaly research — burn out physically and psychologically: pushing against hard limits on what humans can comprehend generates systemic pushback in the form of stress, immune collapse, and unusual illness. It is distinguished from assassination by the absence of staging evidence, and from ordinary stress by clustering around specific topics.
